Registration & Studio Information

Dance classes run from the week of September 11, 2017 until the end of May 2018.

The dance season is divided into 3 Terms:
Term 1: September 11, 2017, to November 26, 2017
Term 2: November 27, 2017, to February 25, 2018
Term 3: February 26, 2018, to May 31, 2018

KICKS accepts Visa, MasterCard, and cheques. (Cheques made out to KICKS Dance Studio.) Interac is also accepted for dance fees and dance wear purchases. A registration is not considered complete until all post-dated cheques or pre-authorized Visa/MasterCard payments are submitted for the entire dance season.

A $25 non-refundable registration fee per NEW family is required with the registration form. The annual registration fee for returning families is $15. Returning families: SAVE the registration fee when you sign-up in June!

High quality costumes are ordered for all students to wear for the year-end recital. Costumes are not required for students enrolled in Technique or Conditioning. The recreational costume payment in the amount of $135 plus HST per group costume is due October 15, 2017. A $150 deposit per costume is required for competitive students and is due October 15, 2017. Competitive costume balances are due in the Spring. The R.A.D. ballet classes, from Grade 2 and up, will be required to purchase a recital costume skirt provided by KICKS.

Any fees submitted a week or more after the due dates will be subject to a $15.00 late fee. To avoid any additional charges, please provide KICKS with post-dated cheques or an automatic payment system. Payment due date reminders will be posted at the studio, on the website and in all KICKS newsletters. For pre-authorized Visa/Mastercard payments, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to inform the office of new credit card numbers and/or expiry dates before the payment is due. Dance fees must be paid in full by the due dates in order to attend class. Recital participation: Term 3 payment (due Feb 26th) and any outstanding fees must be paid in order to participate in the year end recital.

An administration fee of $35.00 will be charged to all NSF cheques. Letters and/or past records are subject to a $50 admin fee.

Term fees are non-refundable after the 4th week of the term. A $25.00 administrative fee will be applied to all refunds. Fees will not be refunded for missed classes or classes taken. Should you sustain an injury that prevents you from completing the season, we will (with doctor’s note) transfer any unused fees to the following season. Costume fees are non-refundable.

KICKS Dance Studio reserves the right to cancel any class temporarily or permanently due to emergency, weather conditions or low enrollment. In the case of a snow storm, please call the studio after 3:00pm on weekdays and 8:00am on weekends for a recording on whether classes will be held. The notice will also be posted on the website ( and our facebook page. Parents will not receive a phone call. Please ensure you have provided a valid email address in order to keep up with communication.

Missed classes are sometimes unavoidable. However, since continual absences negatively affect the progress of the entire class, every effort should be made to attend all classes. There will be no refunds for missed classes and make-up classes are not available.
It is not the responsibility of KICKS staff to supervise your child before and after their class. Please pick up your child promptly after their dance class.

All of your dance needs are available at the KICKS DANCE SHOP. KICKS bodysuits, tights, dance shorts and leggings, shoes, gifts, dance bags and accessories are available at great prices. Check out our brand new line of t-shirts, hoodies and pants from American Apparel including “Boyz” wear. Competitive students are required to purchase the KICKS team uniform to wear at all dance competitions.

ALL dancers are required to follow the KICKS dress code:

Bare feet, black bodysuit & tan footless or convertible tights.

Pink leather full sole ballet slippers, black, pink or lilac bodysuit & pink ballet tights

Clean indoor black and white running shoes (high-top black converse preferred), fitted tank and dance pants, leggings or workout wear.

Mini, Beginner & Jr Levels: Bloch tan slip on jazz shoe S499 or Bloch tan Neoflex 495, black or pink bodysuit and tan footed tights.
Intermediate, Advanced, Pre- Teen & Teen Levels: Foot Undies, black bodysuit & tan tights, leggings or dance shorts.

Mini, Beginner & Jr Levels: Tan low heel tap shoe with velcro strap Capezio 3800, black or pink bodysuit and tan footed tights.
Int., Adv., Pre-Teen & Teen Levels: Black lace up Capezio “built ups” or SoDanca, black bodysuit & tan footed tights, leggings or dance shorts.

Foot Undies, black bodysuit & tan footless or convertible tights, leggings or dance shorts.

Bare feet, black bodysuit & tan footless or convertible tights or dance shorts.

Jr. Level – Bloch tan slip on jazz shoes S499 or Bloch tan Neoflex 495, black bodysuit & tan footed tights.
Int. Level – Shoe will be confirmed in September, black bodysuit & tan footless or convertible tights, leggings or dance shorts.

Please do not purchase pointe shoes until the 3rd week of classes.

Students not dressed appropriately will not be admitted to class.

Hair must be tied back in a neat, secure ponytail. Ballet classes: hair must be secured in a ballet bun with bobby pins and a hairnet.

All students perform in the year-end recitals at the Markham Theatre. The annual recital is a very exciting event. The recital dates are: Friday, June 1st & Saturday June 2nd 2018. A dress rehearsal for the recital will be held on Friday, June 1st in the afternoon. Tickets for the year end recital will cost approx. $30.00 each and are purchased through the Markham Theatre box office. Tickets go on sale in April. More information regarding the recital will be available in the new year.

Professional pictures of each class will be taken in full costume in May (date TBA).

KICKS’ administrative assistants will be happy to answer your phone calls and any questions that you may have. Administrative assistants’ hours during the dance season from September to end of May: Monday to Friday 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Our primary source of communication is through email. If you are not receiving emails you must inform the office immediately. Parents may view classes on the monitor located in the lobby. KICKS also has viewing windows with one-way mirrors.

Holidays will generally follow school schedules. Holidays will be posted on the KICKS website and in the studio newsletters. KICKS will close for Thanksgiving Monday, the Christmas break, Family Day, March break, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Victoria Day. KICKS will remain open on the Saturday of Easter weekend and on Easter Monday.

KICKS is a nut-free facility. Please do not bring any products that contain nuts into the studio. Food and drinks are only permitted in the kitchen. Water bottles are allowed in the studios.
