Registration & Studio Information

Weekly dance classes run from the week of September 11, 2023 until the end of May 2024.

Lesson fees are paid on the 3 Term dates: August 1st, November 27th and February 26th. The recital costume fee is due on November 1st 2023.

KICKS will close for Thanksgiving Monday, the Holiday break, Spring break, Family Day, Easter Sunday and Victoria Day Monday. Saturday Students: There is no class on the first Saturday of December due to the Mount Albert Santa Claus Parade (KICKS dancers participate in the parade).

KICKS accepts Visa or Mastercard pre-authorized payments. A registration is not considered complete until all authorized credit card payments are submitted for the dance season.

A non-refundable registration fee of $25.00 plus HST is required per new family. Returning families save the registration fee in June!

Dance costumes are ordered for all students to wear for the year-end recitals and picture day. Costume fees are due February 1st. The recreational costume payment of $110 + hst is non-refundable after the payment date of November 1st 2023. There is a costume for each class the student is registered in with the exception of Technique, Acrobatic Arts, R.A.D. Comp Ballet and Adult Classes. The costume fee does not cover dance wear and dance shoes that are required to be worn to class each week.

Lesson fees are due on the 3 term dates; August 1st, November 27th and February 26th. Any fees submitted a week or more after the due dates will be subject to a $5.00 late fee per day. To avoid any additional charges, please provide KICKS with post-dated cheques or an automatic payment system. Payment due date reminders will be posted at the studio, on the website and in all KICKS newsletters. For pre-authorized Visa/Mastercard payments, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to inform the office of new credit card numbers and/or expiry dates before the payment is due. Dance fees must be paid in full by the due dates in order to attend class.

An administration fee of $40 will be charged to NSF cheques.

A $25.00 administrative fee will be applied to process a refund. Requests to cancel a registration must be received by the KICKS office in writing after the students’ second class (second week) of classes in September in order to qualify for a refund for the remainder of the term. Term 2 and 3 fees will are non-refundable once the session has started. Fees will not be refunded for missed classes or classes taken. Costume fees are non-refundable after Nov 1st 2023.

KICKS Dance Studio reserves the right to cancel any class temporarily or permanently due to emergency, weather conditions or low enrollment. In the case of a snow storm, a notice will be emailed to all KICKS families before 3pm on weekdays and by 7:30am on weekends. The notice will also be posted on KICKS instagram and Facebook page. Parents will not receive a phone call. Please ensure you have provided a valid email address in order to keep up with communication.

It is very beneficial for students to have great attendance during the year. There will be no refunds for missed classes and make-up classes are not available.

KICKS offers its own unique line of dance wear, accessories and dance shoes! You can purchase KICKS leotards, dance shorts, crop tops, t-shirts, onesies, leggings, sweatshirts and hoodies at the KICKS Dance Shop.

RECREATIONAL DRESS CODE:

MINI DANCE, MINI BALLET, PRE-PRIMARY BALLET
Pink leather or canvas ballet slippers, black, pink or lavender bodysuit & pink ballet tights
. No gymnastics slippers please.

R.A.D. BALLET
Pink ballet shoes. Black leotard and pink ballet tights (full foot or convertible).

HIP HOP
Clean indoor black or white running shoes, Adidas or converse recommended. Comfortable active wear.

MUSICAL THEATRE
Bloch black Neoflex S0495, any colour bodysuit, leggings or tan footed tights.

JAZZ/ACRO AND ACRO
Bare feet, any colour bodysuit and tan footless tights or leggings.

LYRICAL & CONTEMPORARY
Bare feet, any colour bodysuit and tan footless tights or leggings, OR a dance tank and dance shorts.

TAP
Beginner and Junior levels: Black low heel tap shoe with velcro strap Capezio 3800, any colour bodysuit and tan footed tights.
Pre-Teen/Teen levels: Capezio black low-heel lace-up tap shoes.
Boys: Black lace-up tap shoes

Students must be dressed appropriately for class. Please purchase your shoes & attire once your dance class has been confirmed in September.


COMPETITIVE STUDENTS will receive a shoe list via email.

Hair must be tied back in a neat, secure ponytail. A ballet bun is required for ballet class.

Professional pictures of each group will be taken in full costume in April or May. Date TBC.

The annual dance recital is a very exciting event that all KICKS students perform in! Our recitals will be held at the end of May at Markham Theatre. A stage rehearsal will be held at the theatre. There is a cost for recital tickets, approx. $35 per ticket. Tickets go on sale in April.

The KICKS website is very informative. Please check the website for updates and important information www.kicksdance.ca. The KICKS Facebook page and instagram account is also updated daily.

Our primary source of communication is through email. If you are not receiving emails please inform the office immediately. If your email address or phone number changes during the year, please inform the office to ensure you receive all of the studio information.

Studio 1 has one-way viewing windows inside the lobby. Studio 2 is all dance space, there is no viewing from inside the facility, however parents will be invited in on viewing day. There are also large windows across the front of the unit.

Food and drinks are not permitted in the facility. Students may bring a water bottle to class. Please do not bring any snacks that contain nuts.
